Following untrue information trending on social media and various online news platforms about 2017/2018 Admission Screening of the University of Ibadan (UI) ,Idowu Olayinka, Professor of Applied Geophysics and Vice Chancellor of the institution has debunked all rumours associated with the students admission for 2017/2018 academic calendar.
The Vice Chancellor, who spoke with our correspondent through Tunji Oladejo, the University’s Director of Communication, said that students admission modalities and recommendations must come from University of Ibadan Senate Admissions Committee of Provost, Deans and Directors, and therefore, warned applicants to beware.
The Press statement issued on Sunday on behalf of the Vice Chancellor also reads, “Some unauthorized news and/or rumours have been circulating on the social media lately, especially over the past four days, on the modalities that the University of Ibadan would adopt for the 2017/2018 UTME Admission Exercise.
“Kindly ignore such information. A meeting of the Senate would be convened in due course to make a decision on this matter, based on appropriate recommendations from the Senate Admissions Committee and the Committee of Provost, Deans and Directors.
“A formal announcement would be made thereafter on the modalities to be adopted in Screening those candidates who must have chosen the University of Ibadan for admission. You may wish to advise your children, wards, other parents, guardians and other interested parties accordingly”, the Vice Chancellor concluded.
